Every October, hard hats around Load Trail’s facilities start showing up in a color you don’t normally see on a production floor: pink. It’s not a uniform change. It’s a fundraiser, and one of our favorite traditions of the year.
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Load Trail marks it with the Pink Hardhat contest, raising funds for the American Cancer Society across our Sumner, Sulphur Springs, and Como facilities.
How it works
Employees can donate to the cause at their nearest HR office. Every donor receives a Pink Safety sticker for their hard hat, and gets to cast a vote for their favorite production manager or supervisor.
That vote matters more than it might sound. Whichever production manager or supervisor receives the most donations in their name has to wear a pink hard hat for the entire month of November. The winner gets announced November 2nd, so there’s no hiding from it once the totals are in.
Donating also enters you into a drawing for a Pink Edition “Trailer Nation” cap, with three winners chosen at random and announced the same day.
The match that doubles every dollar
Load Trail’s CEO agrees to match every dollar donated, dollar for dollar. That means every gift given during the campaign turns into two dollars headed straight to the American Cancer Society.
Where to donate
Pink Safety hard hat stickers are available while supplies last at each location:
- Sumner: HR Reception, Selena
- Sulphur Springs: Receptionist, Rosa
- Como: Receptionist, Erika
Why we keep doing this
A production floor doesn’t usually feel like the place for a cause like this, but that’s exactly why it works. It puts something serious in front of people every single day for a month, turns a hard hat into a visible reminder, and gives everyone at Load Trail an easy, direct way to make a difference, dollar for dollar, alongside people they work with every day.
Don’t wait. Get your sticker, cast your vote, and help us turn November a little more pink.
