Trailer manufacturers are required by law to comply with hundreds of safety-related regulations, covering everything from lighting to load capacities to braking systems. Most buyers will never read those regulations directly, and they shouldn’t have to. That’s exactly the gap the NATM Decal is built to close.

What the decal actually certifies

The National Association of Trailer Manufacturers (NATM) created the NATM Decal so consumers have a fast, reliable way to know a trailer was built by a manufacturer who has verified compliance through NATM’s Compliance Verification Program. Load Trail carries this decal, and we’re proud to be one of the manufacturers who meets its requirements.

NATM compiles the applicable federal regulations and industry best practices into one standard, and every two years, NATM Compliance Consultants visit member facilities in person to confirm that manufacturing processes are actually in place to build trailers according to those standards. This isn’t paperwork reviewed from a distance. It’s a physical facility visit, checking real production processes against a real standard.

Why it’s mandatory, not optional

Participation in the Compliance Verification Program is mandatory for every NATM trailer manufacturing member. Only members who have successfully completed the program are permitted to place the NATM Decal on their trailers. That’s an important distinction: this isn’t a badge a manufacturer can simply choose to display. It has to be earned, and re-earned, on a recurring two-year cycle.

What that means for you

When you see the NATM Decal on a Load Trail trailer, it’s a signal that the facility that built it has been directly verified, not just self-reported, against federal regulations and industry best practices covering the safety systems that actually matter on the road: lighting, braking, and load capacity among them.

Compliance verification isn’t the flashiest part of buying a trailer. It’s the part that matters most once that trailer is loaded, hitched, and moving down the highway. That’s why you can have peace of mind every time you see it.
